The discovered attackThe piece that moves is not the one that attacks. If it also grabs something, it is a double move.

In a discovered attack, the piece that moves is not the piece that attacks. Look at the marks: your rook on e1 and the black king on e8 are on the same file — except your knight on e5 stands in the way. The moment the knight leaves e5, the rook gives check all by itself. And the knight can leave by CAPTURING something: the check forces Black to see to the king, and whatever the knight took stays with you.

Move the knight off e5, capturing the dearest piece it can reach.
