The Opera Game
Morphy, 1858, in an opera box in Paris. The best lesson in development ever played.
Paris, 1858. Paul Morphy went to watch an opera and ended up playing two opponents at once, in a box, with the show going on. He won in 17 moves, and the game is still used as a lesson today for a simple reason: it is the pure demonstration of the three ideas you just learned. Morphy develops EVERY piece, castles, and attacks. The other two never finish coming out.
Thirty-three moves. Comments appear on the ones that matter — on the rest, just keep stepping through.
