Control without occupying
English and Reti: aiming at the centre from afar instead of planting a pawn in it.
Module 5 taught you to occupy the centre with pawns, and that still holds. Now the other half of the truth: you can CONTROL the centre without STANDING in it. A pawn planted in the centre is also a pawn that can be attacked; a piece aiming at the centre from afar offers no target. Both openings here live on that.
The English. One pawn move on the c-file, and the centre can wait.
The Reti. The knight before any pawn, and the c4 pawn offered right after.
