Berlin, 1852. Adolf Anderssen played this game and it became known as the Evergreen: “always fresh”, because it never ages. We are skipping straight to move 17, where the combination begins — what came before was ordinary development, and you already know about that. From here on, nearly every white move is a piece being offered. Watch the reason: it is never sacrifice for its own sake. Every piece handed over drags a defender out of place or gives a check that blocks the answer.
